Solaria Corporation, a global provider of solar module technologies, filed suit against Genesem, Inc., a Korean equipment manufacturer licensed by Solaria, on March 1, 2018 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

The lawsuit seeks damages and injunctive relief for breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, conversion, unjust enrichment, constructive trust and unfair competition.  Among other things, Solaria seeks transfer of the patents obtained by Genesem and the technology derived from the government grant to Solaria.

"Genesem violated our license agreement by using our proprietary technology without our knowledge or permission," said Solaria CEO Suvi Sharma.  "We intend to have the patents wrongfully obtained by Genesem, as well as any technology or other benefits derived from the government grant, assigned to Solaria as required under our license agreement.  We don't take the misuse of our technology lightly and we aggressively protect our intellectual property from misuse or misappropriation."
